Friday Nights Rock... Sunday Afternoons Jazz & Roots

May was a great month at the Adventure Farm Tasting Room! We opened the doors May 8 and enjoyed seeing our neighbors and friends. The music and food has been great. Thanks to all the musicians that came out... Sam Cregger, Michael Clem and Thomas Gunn, Koda Kerl and Freeman Mowrer, Matty Metcalfe... and food trucks... Big Easy Metro Market, MWO, Spiked and Charley's Chili. We look forward to having everyone back out real soon!

Opening Weekend at Adventure Farm

Last Friday night, Sam Cregger played his tunes in our new Pavilion.

It was a thrill to throw open the doors, see familiar faces, listen to music and drink wine.

The Big Easy Metro Market Food Truck served up delicious cajun-inspired food.

The sweet scent of wisteria filled the air

and the sunset was spectacular.

This Friday night, May 15 from 6-9pm, rain or shine, we will be at it again

with the sounds of Michael Clem and Thomas Gunn

and the Spiked Food truck.

Come out and try our new Rosé Wine and Viognier or our Gigi Red Blend and Chardonnay.

On Saturday night, the VCCA, Virginia Center for Creative Arts, held their annual event on our Meadow Site. A multimedia arts installation by Brice Brown and Alan Shockley inspired guests. It was a lovely evening and a memorable way to start off the event season. We are ready to host private parties and weddings, so give us a ring to book your special event.

On Saturday, May 9, The VCCA or The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, will host their annual art event at Adventure Farm.

VCCA PRESENTS THE COMMISSION
The Commission is a one night stand- a multimedia arts installation that will appear at Adventure Farm one night... and one night only. From the imaginations of nationally acclaimed artist Brice Brown and composer Alan Shockley.

VCCA is a working retreat for exceptional national and international artists, writers and composers. The Fellows have received numerous awards- from the Pulitzer Prize to the MacArthur "Genius Grant." Even more importantly, their work enriches libraries, galleries and concert halls in your neighborhood- and around the world.

It should be a grand evening of art with the VCCA and the community of artists and supporters. The installation will be situated at our Tasting Room location, on the Meadow Site, overlooking the rolling green fields and Blue Ridge Mountains.

And don't forget, the Adventure Farm Tasting room reopens this Friday, May 8 at Noon with live music by Sam Cregger and food by the Big Easy Metro Market from 6-9pm. Come on out and see the wonderful improvements!

Small Things

I've taken to saving quotes. They fill me with inspiration and hope on days when life feels too overwhelming and everything seems stalled or going the wrong way. Instead of hiding them away in my Pinterest file, I write them on my chocolate brown chalkboard wall. My creative side has taken a backseat lately but drawing and writing on the wall seems to calm my nerves just enough.

With 3 weeks until opening day, yes, May 8, at High Noon, the great green gates will be thrown open with all caution to the wind as well. It might not be finished to my liking, it might not be perfect, but what in life is ever finished and perfect? I have learned a lot these past few months. It takes time to make things happen. It takes focus and multiple page lists to keep it all in check. It takes sleep and the support of my loving family.

It takes a village to realize a dream. I appreciate all the hard work from folks around me who help make things happen. We all have our jobs and we are all trying to make a living. It's not easy but it sure is nice when you can stay local and support each other in a building project. I love being the caretaker of my family's farm. There are lots of dreams and a long way to go, but we are on our way.

The best part is going to be welcoming our neighbors through the door, serving some wine and catching up on how long the winter was and how sweet spring has become. So come on out May 8, anytime after Noon. Between 6 and 9 in the evening, Jim Waive will play his soulful sounds. Have a glass of wine (Viognier is back! Rose is new! Gigi Red Blend and Chardonnay classically delicious), bring the whole family, bring your date, kick back, relax next to the pond, under our new pavilion, taking in the Blue Ridge sunset and most of all the friendship and companionship of each other.

Spring News

It's spring and we are getting ready to open up our newly refurbished Tasting Room and Site. We have a few surprises up our sleeves, a few improvements that we are super excited about. The wicked winter delayed us a bit, but we hope to open up in about a month, so stay tuned!

Our 2014 Viognier is ready and with a new vintage inspired label.
The taste is of the same high quality as 2013.

Happy New Year 2015!

Adventure Farm will close for the winter, reopening April 2015.
We will spend the winter months sprucing up the Tasting Room and planning our special events for spring and summer.
The 2014 harvest was great! This spring, the 2014 Viognier and a new Rose will be available. In the summer, Adventure Farm will release its first sparkling wine. Look for a bordeaux style in 2016. All wines are 100% estate grown.
2015 should be an exciting year at Adventure Farm!
If you have a party or wedding coming up, please give us a call to reserve one of our three sites. Our vintage family farm is the perfect setting for a local farm to table experience with our boutique wines and naturally raised beef.
