A Recent Trip to the Vineyard

All is well in the vineyard. Gathering with wine maker Jake Bushing of Virginia Wineworks, vineyard manager Carl Tinder and vineyard consultant Chris Hill, we wandered up and down the some odd 14 acres of vines, checking the progress of our 2015 crop.

Viognier is fully loaded and after 2 years of a lighter than average harvest this is great news. We might actually have enough grapes to supply the ever growing demand of our dedicated customers. Viognier from Adventure Farm has proven to be a premium grape and with that comes top quality and delicious wine.

The Chambourcin crop is full and healthy. We love this grape for blending with Cabernet Sauvignon to make our Gigi Red Blend as well as making our garnet colored Rosé. It is strong and dependable and everyone needs a little certainty in their life.

The Cabernet Sauvignon clusters are airy and beautifully spaced. We will keep our fingers crossed that the crop will ripen earlier than later. Every year is different but 2015 looks promising. This grape can be so wonderful on its own or blended with Gigi Red. Look for our first varietal bottling of 2014 grapes, in the barrel now, which will be released in the summer of 2016.
The young Cabernet Franc vines look healthy. The crop load is light but flavor should be intensified.
Oh, Tannat. You don't seem to disappoint. The clusters are full and even. The sense is that this could be an amazing crop. We hope to continue using Tannat in our blend with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The 2014 blend is in barrel now and will be released in the summer of 2016. The Tannat and Cabernet Sauvignon have be award winning for both Michael Shaps and Bluestone Vineyard.
Chardonnay, so lovely, so perfect. Looking forward to producing more of our special Sparkling Brut. With its creamy, crisp and dry finish the Brut offers total satisfaction.

Adventure Farm label wines are made with 100% estate grown fruit. The vineyard is proving to be a top quality producer in the area and that makes us proud.
